In the 1st reading of today’s Mass God asks King David through Nathan if he is the man to build him a house to dwell in. In the Gospel God asks Mary through the angel Gabriel if she will be the perfect home for him to dwell in. We too are asked to provide a home for Jesus, which is warm and welcoming, like the manger prepared by Mary - or like the nest St John of the Cross imagines Jesus building for himself in the saint’s heart.
