Hine Waitai-Dye: what it takes to be a master waka builder

Last weekend, Hine Waitai-Dye (Ngāti Kurī) graduated as a master builder of traditional Māori canoes. The Northland tā moko artist tells Jesse Mulligan that "a lot of random skills" are required to properly construct a waka but an open mind is number one.
