If you work for the UN or an INGO, you may have worked with local NGO's or civil society while implementing a project.  And if you have, you probably know that this can be super rewarding, but also super challenging. I always struggled with questions like: How do we strengthen our local partner's institutional capacity without taking over the process?  Better yet, how do we make it sustainable so they don't stop following the procurement process just because the project ended?  How can we strengthen our local partner in a way they appreciate and feel ownership over? After learning how to coach, I found that many of the coaching skills I had gained were super effective when helping build and strengthen local partners.  Today I share some of those with you which will result in not only strengthening your local partner, but also your relationship. If you're interested in learning how to have a formal coaching conversation with your local partners, check out my digital course The Aid Worker's Guide to Successful Coaching 101.  In the course I provide the step-by-step proven process to get your team and partners from needy and unconfident to strong and proactive.  Doors are open now for the October cohort!
