With 2016‘s flop of an entry, Ghostbusters fans could be forgiven for being leery of yet another entry to the franchise. With the son of the original director behind the helm, however - and the family of Harold Ramis on board - Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a far different story. From the casting to the story to the insertion of the likeness of Egon Spengler, we discuss both the strengths and weaknesses of the movie, how it works for us, and why ”fan service” is not necessarily an inherently negative thing depending on how it‘s wielded and used.
