Why are tongue ties controversial?

A tongue tie is when the membrane that attaches a baby's tongue to the floor of their mouth is tight or short. This can then cause problems with breastfeeding because the baby can't latch properly. However there are some who believe that tongue ties have become a catch-all for the many challenges that can come with breastfeeding.
