Sam was only twelve years old when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. He lived with his family in Griffith, a seven hour drive to the hospital in Randwick where he would be receiving treatment. Kylie and Craig Burley, Sam's parents, would tag team for the next 202 days while their son underwent lifesaving treatment.
