C. Zawadi Morris is an award-winning journalist and a Chicago native who moved to Brooklyn in 1997. Ms. Morris holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration (and a minor in Spanish) from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. She has worked as the bilingual communications director for Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez (NY-12), a senior account executive for Shandwick Public Affairs and Cohn & Wolf Public Relations, and a news editor at AOL’s Bed-Stuy Patch. In December 2013, under The Original Media Group, Zawadi launched The Brooklyn Reader, an online news source covering the neighborhoods of Central Brooklyn. In her free time, Zawadi loves baking, hiking, dancing, hanging out on the beach and getting as far away from the Internet as possible. She also likes to design and sew and in 2004 was named one of Brooklyn’s Top-20 Designers by NRG Magazine. Nonye Brown-West is a New York-based Nigerian-American comedian and writer. She has been featured in the Boston Globe's Rise column as a Comic to Watch, as well as in NPR, PBS, ABC, Sway In The Morning, and the New York Comedy Festival. Nonye made her acting debut in The Sympathy Card, now available for streaming on Vudu, Apple, Amazon, and Google Play. Nina Kharoufeh is a SiriusXM radio producer, and comedian, a journalist, and all around unstoppable force determined to break stereotypes surrounding Muslim women and see her name in headlines for the big moves that she is making. She is the author of the book "I'm a Princess To" which is about a young Muslim who wears a hijab and is just trying to live a normal life.
