Yearning for God’s Presence: Devotional Bible Study of Psalm 137   As we study today the worship leaders of Israel, and the longing they experienced while in captivity, it reminds us of the yearning we sometimes feel as we live in the space of the “already but not yet.” We are already one with Christ, but not yet fully restored, and we won’t be this side of heaven. It is a normal human emotion to sometimes wrestle with that yearning. I pray that as we unpack today’s psalm, it helps you settle into a place of thankfulness for the gift and presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Thoughts to Journal: Do you ever long for heaven? For the complete restoration of our lives, our bodies, and our world? If we are honest, it sometimes is hard not to yearn for that when we look at the world around us. Spend some time today thanking God for the gift of the Holy Spirit, which empowers us to be a light in this dark world as we wait for Christ’s return.
