Blessed are those who mourn, they shall be comforted

In Your Presence - Podcast autorstwa Eric Nicolai

Matt 5. 4: Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. The reality of mourning. This is not just a code that the church has transmitted. The beatitudes are a source of inspiration and strength through thick and thin. Because he who proclaimed them is risen and alive. He suffered but rose. His friends mourned his loss, but also rejoiced unbelievably when they saw him speaking to them, alive. As soon as someone dies, they begin to know corruption. It is our duty in this world to keep them really alive. Lk 6, 21, 25: Blessed are you that weep now for you shall laugh…. Woe to you that laugh now, you shall mourn and weep. We live in a world that is marked by sorrow and grief. Everyone’s journey will find its way there eventually. Now many have experience the COVID pandemic in different ways: some lost a loved one, others the loss of normality, of being with friends, distance, in your room… But this is to be expected in this world. Often we flee from it. We try to act as though it never really affected us. We try to go over it, around it, underneath, all but really face it head on. It can be hard stuff. Sorrow and joy mingle in our life. We carry them like scars. Here's how we can be comforted...
