B”H How would you like to add a little fun to your money management? Some gamification, perhaps? My guests say this is much needed. I couldn’t agree more! Some good old incentives to get things done, a little laughter at our past mistakes, can get us really far. You’re listening to Jewish Money Matters. I’m Yael Trusch, your Host. I have Joe Saul-Sehy and Emily Guy Birken, Authors of the newly released book, Stacked: Your Super Serious Guide to Modern Money Management. He worked as a financial advisor for 16 years, and represented American Express and Ameriprise in the media. He was the “Money Man” at Detroit television appearing twice weekly. He’s appeared in hundreds of media outlets: Bride, Best Life, the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Detroit News, Baltimore Sun, CNBC.com and WSJ.com, among many others. Emily Guy Birken is a Plutus Award-winning freelance writer who specializes in the scientific research behind irrational money behaviors. She makes complex financial topics relatable and easily understood by the layperson. She is the author of five books, including The 5 Years Before You Retire, End Financial Stress Now, and the brand new book Stacked: Your Super Serious Guide to Modern Money Management, which we talk about today. As you just heard, Joe and Emily have both been authorities in the personal finance space for many years, and so I asked them what was missing in the conversation, what needed to be said, that hadn’t been said before? What about the personal finance fundamentals, are we done with those, are there things that are outdated, what stays true, what should be getting a refresh? Also, from their perspective, what’s one thing that’s really going to move the needle when it comes to wealth building that we should all be concentrating on more? And if you’ve ever wondered, how in the world do I hire a financial advisor? What do I look out for, and is it even for me at this stage of my life, Joe and Emily have very useful tips. The role of giving and of course we had to laugh at their money blunders, cuz we’re taking this money stuff super seriously, and we want you to, too. Ready for a good laugh? I hope you are because here’s Joe Saul-Sehy and Emily Guy Birken.
