My guest is Daniel Levin, Author of  Proof of Life: Twenty Days on the Hunt for a Missing Person in the Middle East. This thriller is like a movie. It’s not. It’s very real; it’s Daniel’s story as he searches for a westerner in war torn Syria. How did Daniel end up in this position? The role of money in hostage negotiations. It’s not exactly what we might think. Daniel has been involved in hostage negotiations numerous times in different countries. We discuss the personal toll this kind of work takes. Daniel is a lawyer by training, with a post-doctorate from Columbia University, and has spent the last twenty-five years working with governments and development institutions worldwide, focusing on economic development and political reform through financial literacy, political inclusion, and constitutional initiatives. As a member of the board of the Liechtenstein Foundation for State Governance, Daniel works in diplomacy and mediation efforts in war zones. Here’s Daniel Levin.
