Menace to Sobriety - Podcast autorstwa Daniel O'Reilly - Piątki
In this very first episode with Kirk Norcross as co-host, Dan and Kirk begin to explore a new format for the show! Dan and Kirk talk about what you can expect from the show going forward including how their producer John, who has been there for every episode but isn’t an addict, will be getting involved to offer a unique perspective. Menace to Sobriety isn’t just for addicts, but also for those who are around them to learn about what addiction is and how they can potentially help those close to them suffering from addiction. Kirk and Dan also open up about their own addictions including what they think defines a drug and drink problem and why becoming sober is the best thing to happen to them. Answering questions from the community, including whether alcohol advertising should be banned and how to deal with FOMO, this a jam-packed episode full of tips and ideas on how you can start your sobriety journey and remain sober too! KEY TAKEAWAYS If drugs are in your plan, for a night out or event, this can be a sign that you may have a problem. If it is affecting your life, for example, if you are missing events and not seeing people because of it then that is another sign. Attitude changes and defensiveness are one of the sure ways to recognise addiction in someone close to you. If every time something bad happens, you reach for drink or drugs and it’s your coping mechanism, then you have a problem. Addicts have to be careful, if they have been addicted to one thing they are predisposed to become addicted to other things too. Kirk doesn’t believe you can ever recover from addiction, you can just learn to live with it and do the best you can to stay sober. John likens addiction to possession; like there is yourself and then your addict self that run alongside one another. Addiction usually happens because you are trying to cope with problems. You use drugs as a coping mechanism. You have to face your demons and deal with your real problems to truly combat your addiction. Recognise the little habits that improve your mental health, it can be as simple as making your bed in the morning or writing a gratitude list. Righting wrongs can aid you in your sobriety journey, being honest about who you have hurt and apologising sincerely to them. Exercise is a good routine that can help prevent you from slipping back into addiction, it improves your mood and gives you something to do. Start saying yes and trying things, push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Change your environment, network and circle and you will change yourself. You have to surround yourself with the right people and the right places. Addiction takes pride and ego away, you can find your pride again by doing things like ordering your life and cleaning your home. Swap your addiction to positive things, find something that’s difficult that you want to get good at and swap it for your addiction. If you really want to change your life then go sober! BEST MOMENTS "Stop giving in to your inner bitch” “If you feel like you have to use that to have a good night then that’s where your problem lies” “Addicts are born as addicts” “The drink and the drugs aren’t the problem, they’re the solution to your fucking problems, you have to sort your problems” “The only thing you had left was addiction” “Stop using the word I can’t and start using the word yes and I will try” “I don’t think alcohol should be advertised” “Don’t look at it like you're missing out, look at it like you’re free of it” VALUABLE RESOURCES CONTACT METHOD Instagram Facebook Twitter ABOUT THE HOSTS Daniel O’Reilly Daniel O’Reilly is one of the UK’s Largest Influencers, a comedian, actor, musician, viral video star and social influencer. Kirk Norcross Instagram “My name is Kirk Norcross, I’m 34 years old, I had a pretty good run, a TV career which I can’t even remember hardly any of that, drugs consumed my life I always used drugs like an addict but I didn’t use them all the time until my fiancé split up with me for no reason and never gave me a reason and I was so upset, hurt and confused. I started using drugs to self-medicate to shut my brain down to stop thinking and then spiral turned and turned and turned until I was like a wrecking ball everywhere I went every penny I had went on drugs, my whole life revolved around drugs I tried recovery a couple of times and kept relapsing then I lost my due to suicide, and it was like something clicked in my head that I need to step up to the plate and be the man that my father wanted me to be, and from then on, I’ve been so as of today’s date I am 583 days sober haven’t touched any drugs or alcohol or any other mind-influencing substance since then.” Menace 2 Sobriety, podcast, actor, comedian, sobriety, sober, story, years sober, consequences, behaviour, alcoholism, drug addiction, denial, insecurity, fear-driven,rock bottom, sober, rehab, suicidal, addict, realization, struggle, addiction, rock bottom, denial, curiosity, hope, denial, gratitude, self-awareness,behaviour, guilt, shame, emotions, gratitude, self esteem, gratitude, sober life, drugs, confidence, sobriety, ego, drinking,Sobriety Podcast #wedorecover # recoveroutloud #addicitonrecovery #addiction #recoverytok #sobriety #sober #sobertiktok #sobertok #soberlife #sobercurious #soberliving: https://www.instagram.com/dappersinstagram/
