We’ve covered previous winners & nominees like Titanic, Frozen, Dirty Dancing, Cinderella, Aladdin, Footloose, Flashdance, Mary Poppins, Top Gun, Coco, Spectre, The Lion King, and A Star Is Born. Now we cover some more iconic songs from major films like Pocahontas and Toy Story in this 95/96’ Best Original Song category overview! Vanessa Williams, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Randy Newman, Gloria Estefan, Lyle Lovett, and Bryan Adams are the featured artists in this category. One of us gets compared to Nathan Lane, and that same one of us short circuits & melts down about something from this past awards season that he’s repressed… until now! It’s another example of how we love to do this as the word halfisode is stretched to mean a much longer episode. But it doesn’t matter, cuz it’s so much fun. We analyze the films Pocahontas, Dead Man Walking, Sabrina, Don Juan DeMarco, and Toy Story by way of this music, and we have a blast heckling the music videos and hilarious outfits of the mid 90’s. So yes, Also Mike lost his mind about something bothering him for some time. This bomb drops towards the end of the episode, and it carries through to the words of wisdom. He’s not especially proud of himself for the timing of this rant, but he stands by it, and we’ll have to do an episode on this debate in the future. There’s a new proposal on how to fix the Oscars broadcast here, and we can have some fun with it in the future. As always, we want to know what you think. Is Also Mike off his rocker? (Probably).
