Usually Trailer Thoughts Specials don’t get us this hot & bothered. But there’s a new Vegas / Film Twitter frontrunner for Best Picture, and we’re not happy about it. Sorry, Aaron Sorkin. But The Trial of the Chicago 7 may be the most untimely favorite in a long time. Because this time, we’ve gotten a new Best Picture frontrunner. How it happened, where it started - we honestly don’t know. But Vegas is on board somehow and now that the first trailer has come, we have some major issues with this coronation. So we begin with a full discussion on The Trial of the Chicago 7, the pros and cons of it’s Oscars profile, and it’s first trailer breakdown. But really, we’re more focused on issues with the marketing and some parades of thought on social media that don’t always make the best sense to us. Otherwise, we’ve also been lucky to get trailers for a bunch more awards possibilities. The Father shows some usual range for Anthony Hopkins, and Dick Johnson Is Dead is sickly hilarious. Then we finally weigh in on Dune 2020, which can’t be worse than Dune 1984, and we wonder if Dune & No Time To Die are probably too cool for half filled theaters. Finally, we get back to some upcoming streamers with how Rebecca is one of the more intriguing and somehow, unpredictable remakes in awhile, The Boys In The Band makes us love Netflix again, and One Night In Miami may usher Amazon back into the awards conversation this year. As always, let us know what you think of these trailers. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. You can subscribe / rate / review / like / share / & hear us on Apple Podcasts, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Google Play, Tune In, Spotify, and just about wherever you might listen.
