Six-time Pacific West Conference Coach of the Year Jon Judkins is in his 14th season on the Dixie State bench, where he has compiled a 244-117 overall record, including a 224-105 mark during DSU’s NCAA Division II era. Last season he led the Trailblazers to a school-record 23 victories (23-7), which included a school-record 17-game winning streak, along both the 2018 Pacific West Conference regular season championship and second PacWest tournament crown, to become the first head coach in that conference's history to sweep both titles twice in the same season. Judkins also guided Dixie State to its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance. In 2016-17, Judkins led Dixie State to a 19-9 overall record, which included a 16-4 (3rd place) mark in Pacific West Conference play, and his 500th-coaching victory in a home win over Hawai’i Hilo on January 28, 2017. In 2015-16, Judkins led Dixie State to an 18-9 overall record and a 15-5 PacWest mark, which was good for a t-first place finish in the league standings. Overall, Judkins has led the Trailblazers to 10-straight winning seasons with seven 20-win campaigns, which includes 22 victories in the 2010-11 and 2012-13 seasons. He has also guided them to six Pacific West Conference championships overall, including four-straight titles from 2009-13 and another crown in 2014-15, along with a PacWest Tournament title in 2013. In addition, Judkins has led Dixie State to eight trips to the NCAA Tournament in the last nine seasons overall from 2010-17, advancing all the way to the “Sweet 16” in the 2011 West Regional final. In 12 years of NCAA play, Judkins has made the Burns Arena one of the most difficult home court advantages in the Division II ranks. During his tenure, Judkins-coached teams are 112-23 (.829) overall inside the Burns Arena, which includes a dominant 87-12 (.878) mark in PacWest play, with seven 10-win seasons overall. Additionally, Dixie State is 113-83 (.576) away from home during the Judkins-era, 89-62 (.589) in true road games and 24-21 (.533) in neutral-site contests. Prior to his arrival at Dixie State, Judkins served as head coach at Snow College for 12 full seasons and part of another season (1992-93), and posted a 284-128 overall record. He led the Badgers to a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference titles in 1999 and 2000, which earned him SWAC Coach of the Year honors. Prior to becoming head coach at Snow, Judkins was an assistant coach at Snow from 1988-1993, and served as interim head coach for the final 11 games of the 1992-93 season. In 2014, Judkins was inducted into the Snow College Athletic Hall of Fame. Judkins played for one season at Dixie State (junior college) in the 1983-84 season before transferring to Utah State, where he became the first Aggie to post a triple-double. During the 1987-88 season, he helped lead the Aggies to the PCAA title and an NCAA Tournament bid. A native of Salt Lake City, Judkins graduated from USU with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1988. He and his wife, Lanette, are the parents of four children - Jaelle, Janessa, and twins Justin and Jillian.
