Welcome back to the Scale Your Small Busines Podcast with your host, Jillian Flodstrom! Today, we’re talking about delegation. Where to start, how to keep it going, and where you can actually end up making more money. Let’s dive in. The best way to start thinking about delegation is through a list. List out everything you have to do on that day. Once you’ve laid it out, simply pick your least favorite item on the list–bam, there’s your first delegated item. By delegating your least favorite task, not only do you get the time back in your day, you get the mental space and energy back. When you have a task you don’t want to do, you naturally tend to procrastinate. And we all know what happens when we procrastinate–more procrastination. If there’s a difficult task that would take time to learn, there’s a good chance there’s someone out there who specializes in it. When you do that, you’re supporting your own business by hiring an expert, plus you’re supporting another small business in a ripple effect. When we go back to the list we made, it gives us an opportunity to consider combining tasks into a larger position that can be group-delegated to a specialist. Then, you’re able to free up even more time in your day in one swoop. If something pops up, write it down! Keep your list going as tasks evolve. Use a notebook, a phone, a napkin–just list! If you’re wondering how you’re going to afford all this, that’s the easy part. When you have such a significantly large chunk of your day given back to you, it gives you room for ideas and space to create more streams of revenue.
