This story is about a little pumpkin who wants to make Mother Vine proud of him. He has heard her tell another vine that she will grow only jack-o-lanterns and he is worried about that because he doesn’t not know how to be a jack-o-lantern. He is so unhappy that the sunbeams and merry little breezes ask him what is wrong. When he explains they laugh and tell him to just enjoy being a pumpkin, don’t worry about what will happen later. He listens to them and just thinks about eating and growing.
