Adam Gemili is a professional British sprinter. Adam is and has been the fastest Team GB sprinter over the last 8 years. He won gold at the junior athletic championships in Barcelona in 2012 in the 100m - before competing at his first Olympics at London 2012 after training as a sprinter for only 4 months! It’s an incredible achievement where he did himself proud, finishing third in the semi final narrowly missing out in a place in the final with a time of 10.06s. He continued to develop his speed and style and also raced in 200m - he quickly found success winning the silver medal at the 2014 commonwealth games beaten just by Kemar bailey- Cole of Jamaica - and in 2015 back to the 100m Adam became the 100th man ever in history to break the 10 second barrier - clocking a time of 9.97s. He then reached the 200m final at Rio 2016 and had heartbreak when three sprinters crossed the line together and the photo finish showed Adam Missed out for the Olympic bronze medal by 6thousanths of a second! But He then went on to win gold in the 4 x 100m relay in the 2017 world championships and silver in the 2019 world championships when the guys set a European record of 37.36 s. In this episode We talk all about what’s it’s been like to go on this journey as a sprinter and fly the flag for British sprinting - 100m and 200m events in what is certainly the most romantic event in athletics. We also talk about why he started working with prof Steven peters, Author of the book the chimp pradox, and how he helped he to build a stronger mindset.
