Are you easily distracted in your business by potential service offerings, your competition, or even new ideas? You may have shiny object syndrome, which may be holding you back from experiencing your fullest potential in business. Kick shiny object syndrome to the curb for good. In this episode, I’m breaking down three ways to kick shiny object syndrome to the curb. Keep your blinders up. While this concept may see obvious, you’d be amazed at how easily distracted entrepreneurs can become when influenced by shiny objects. It’s important for you to set your goal and commit to honoring it. Even when you’ve committed to your goal, distractions can still creep in through Instagram, copying others, or even google. While education is important, you need to focus on being original in your goal setting and achieving, so that you’re focused on getting the work done. Rather that looking to unreliable sources for inspiration, you could always join a mastermind, educational offering, group coaching, or even a free Facebook group. Honor your definition of success. Success looks different for everyone. We’ve all heard it before. Have you considered how the steps that someone else takes to their success will also look different than the steps you take for your’s? We will all achieve our varying successes differently. It’s so important to consider what your definition of success is and what it will take to get there. Think with the big picture in mind regarding your business. How do you want your life to fit into it, or rather your business to fit into your life? What impacts do you want to make? What financial revenue do you want to see? Taking a look at the big picture can drastically impact your definition of success. Be realistic in how we’re analyzing the progress. I’d love to encourage you to look at facts over feelings and data over drama. Your numbers and analytics speak volumes in comparison to how you may perceive something to be working in your business. While our emotions are valid and powerful tools, the also lack a sense of balance and control when it comes to decision making. It’s important to ensure you’re making all decisions from a place of reason with the consideration of facts and data. Now, I believe in you. I believe that you can kick shiny object syndrome to the curb. You have so much potential ahead of you—so much on the horizon.
