You may be asking yourself that very question – especially if you’re someone who struggles with impulse control or tendencies towards instant gratification. The definition of delayed gratification is the ability to resist temptation, especially when it would lead to pleasure in the short term but pain or negative consequences in the long term. Many people view this skill as a key indicator of self-discipline, willpower, and emotional intelligence. So, what are some reasons why delayed gratification is so important?
