Carmel is the daughter of Irish migrants, left school at 18 to work as a journalist, was a part of the world’s first televised regeneration project at Channel 4, and now works as a lecturer in PR with Sheffield Halam University. Her research interests are local & regional media and crisis communications. She has also co-authored a book with Adrian Roxan - Local Democracy, Journalism and Public Relations.
