Garza has become one of the most influential voices on the planet in a movement centered around the liberation of black people from authoritative systemic violence.  About Black Lives Matter / Black Lives Matter Global Network In 2013, three radical Black organizers — Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi — created a Black-centered political will and movement building project called #BlackLivesMatter. The project is now a member-led global network of more than 40 chapters. Their members organize and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and Black Futures Lab & Black to the Future Action Fund About Black Futures Lab As Principal of The Black Futures Lab, Alicia works to transform Black communities into constituencies that change the way power operates—locally, statewide and nationally. The problems facing the Black communities are complex—the solutions require experimentation, innovation, and political power.
