Are you moving on after divorce and not sure where to start? You NEED to listen to this episode Moms Moving On. Michelle Dempsey-Multack is joined by Dr. Suzanne Vickberg to educate listeners on designing a divorce that works for you. Divorce is not a one size fits all, and Michelle and Suzanne will take a deep dive into: Doing what works for you in divorce Getting creative when creating a parenting plan Not letting outside influence change what YOU want and need AND SO MUCH MORE!! Dr. Suzanne Vickberg is a social-personality psychologist, certified coach, and divorce revolutionary. She is the author of Divorce by Design: What if Staying or Leaving Aren’t Your Only Options. Suzanne is an enthusiast for finding creative solutions to life's thorny challenges, divorce being among the thorniest of all. Thirteen years after the end of her marriage, Suzanne, her ex-husband, his new wife, and their kids are still a family, and they all live in the same house together. They weren’t shattered by the end of their marriage. Instead, their family is fortified. Suzanne’s ex is not her enemy, and his new partner is not a threat. They are both her allies. Their divorce is not a tragedy or a failure. Indeed, it just may be their greatest accomplishment. Although Suzanne and her ex-husband decided to end their marriage, they have never stopped nurturing their family. Suzanne has written the book Divorce by Design from her own lived experience as someone who has created a better divorce, but also as a psychologist with expertise in creative problem-solving. She developed this expertise working at Deloitte, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious consulting firms, where she coaches leaders and helps teams tackle their toughest business challenges. In sharing Divorce by Design, Suzanne aims to help people envision new possibilities for their own struggling marriages and divorces, and to offer hope and inspiration during a time when people may see little of either. In the book, she not only tells her story, but she shares her expertise in creative problem-solving, and offers practical advice for anyone who wants a third option, one that's better than staying miserably married or tearing their family apart. Suzanne has earned a PhD in social-personality psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, as well as an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University. She is a trained professional coach, certified by the Coactive Training Institute and the International Coaching Federation. Her other books include Business Chemistry: Practical Magic for Crafting Powerful Work Relationships and The Breakthrough Manifesto: 10 Principles to Spark Transformative Innovation (forth coming), both co-authored with Kim Christfort. Suzanne is intrigued by the many ways we can integrate empathy and creative problem-solving into our work, our lives, and our relationships. These are her favorite topics to think, talk, and write about. Although she lives in New Jersey, Suzanne has strong Minnesota roots. When she can get to the woods, mountains, or a lake, those are her happy places. She’s an unapologetic introvert, so if she’s not out in nature, she’s probably on her sofa with her books, her space heater, and her dog, Lucy. Of course, she sometimes ventures into the world of other humans, to do something fun with her kids, hang out with friends, or volunteer in her community. Those moments bring her joy. So does arriving back home.
