Politics this week was dominated by the aftermath of, and the fallout from, the contentious referendum on the Voice. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese faced pressure from the Opposition to explain what his position was on treaty and truth-telling, the other two parts of the Uluru Statement that outlined the vision for the failed Voice to Parliament. Separately, the conflict in Israel caused tension in Canberra. The parliament passed a motion condemning Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel, but the Greens sought an amendment that condemned “the war crimes perpetrated by the state of Israel” including the bombing of civilians. They were joined by two independent Teal MPs, Sophie Scamps and Kylea Tink. The amendment failed to pass. Chief political correspondent David Crowe and Sun Herald and Sunday Age chief political reporter Lisa Visentin join Jacqueline Maley to discuss the week in politics. Cut through the noise of federal politics with news, views and expert analysis.
