In fact 23 has become quite an important number to us personally and has carried over into Oikos. I will put some links to where I share more about why this number 23 has such value to us and perhaps you can pick up some ideas for your family, but for today I am excited to let you know that I am starting a little series here on the podcast which follows on from previous podcasts where I was sharing the short stories from the Oikos Ministry Messages booklet. This next series I’m going to be sharing with you continues to follow the theme of ministry messages. We have produced two audio books which have about 40 or so short stories in each and every one of the stories is specially written to share a moral, message, ethic, or whatever you want to take from it. It could be something other, for example an encouragement, or a helping hand. The helping hand these stories where for me in parenting is that I would find a specific lesson from a particular story which I could then share with whoever it was that I thought it may be of help to. For example if one of the children was showing unkind behaviour I would find a story in these short story collections and read it aloud and then use the story, and the characters in the story, to teach the importance of being kind without signalling out a specific child. This became a ‘go to’ tool for me in parenting and I noticed good results from it as everyone would have heard the same story and then when any bad behaviours arose, the characters of the story and the consequences they endured due to that behaviour, could be discussed, rather than a specific child in the family feeling bad about themselves, everyone could help one another towards better choices. So, I will be sharing some of these stories, not all 40 of course, but I will pick a few and share them in these podcasts. They are between 3-10.  minutes each, so I hope that even if you as the parent just listens to them (or you could share them with the family) and then have the story in your heart, or hearts, you may find the story, or stories helpful to share it if the need arises. Basically I do hope that these short stories will be an additional helpful tool in your parenting toolbox. So for now I’m going to say ‘bye for now’, Thank you for listening.
