Wayne Gretzky Interview

The Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast - Podcast autorstwa R.E.V. Media

Darren and Ray start off chatting about Ray's return from the Czech Republic calling the World Juniors and the phenomenal Gold Medal game. Then they hit on a number of the week's top headlines: Tampa Bay's turnaround and current winning streak, the troubles that lead to the Pred's coaching change, McDavid's goal of the year candidate, whether Ovie can eclipse Gretzky in goals with the pace he is on, and wrap-up chatting on the Habs dismal play with key players out. 'The Great One' Wayne Gretzky joined the guys for a fun conversation.  He broke down McDavid's amazing goal as only 99 could, as Wayne got to witness it live. Gretzky told the story about how he never changed his style as a player until he was told to study Bobby Clarke's game and he learned how to use the space behind the net as an asset like Bobby did. Wayne talked about his Dad's impact on his decision to go to California - as opposed to where he originally wants to go, Detroit -  and the resulting growth of the game in the US and how the timing couldn't have worked out better. This week's edition of #ThroatPunch Ray nominates the penalty song 'Charlie' from the Juniors,  and gives a secondary #TP to Corey Perry for his outdoor game elbowing incident. Darren nominates anyone who doesn't want to see extended 3 on 3. In 'Between the Benches' the guys chat on Columbus and how Torts has managed to turnaround their season, how Tocchet and the Yotes are still winning despite playing their 3rd goalie, and how the NHL still needs it's players to be more willing to put their personalities on display to help build the overall brand. 'Ask Ray & Dregs' sees questions on how the Leafs match lines defensively, how the Juniors could get more popular in the US, and why Ray decided to get into broadcasting instead of working in a NHL front office gig either in coaching or management, and how Darren ended up being a broadcaster.
