#7 - lumii series part I: What is lumii?
The Unreasonable Art of Living - Podcast autorstwa Gerhard Molin
Welcome to another episode of The Unreasonable Art of Living podcast. Today, I'm thrilled to kick off the lumii series, where I delve into the heart of lumii—a self-reflective practice I've developed to help us consciously navigate life.Derived from Latin, the term 'lumii' stands for the 'light of life'. During a time when I felt lost and aimless, I yearned for a simple reflection method. lumii, born out of this need, is something I enjoy over a weekly cup of coffee. It prompts you to evaluate and contemplate key areas of life such as career, love, friends, family, mental health, body health, sleep, creativity, and learning. In this conversation, I delve into how lumii nudges you to question what constitutes success or challenges in each life area. I recently had the honor to give a guest lecture at Rikkyo University in Tokyo about lumii. My friend, Prof. Miikka J. Lehtonen, and I are working on a research paper exploring how lumii can be used as a tool to reflect on the learning experience as an integral part of one's well-being. This academic exploration further emphasizes the impact of lumii on one’s understanding of him/herself.lumii isn't a quick fix—it's a slow, steady process that authentically mirrors your inner state of being. If your lumii scores decrease over weeks, it compels you to face the truth—it's a reflection of your inner state. So, who are you deceiving except yourself? Each category in lumii is a reflection of what you perceive in it. It's this feature that makes it so beautiful—it surfaces unnoticed aspects of you. As you journey with lumii, you'll see it evolve into a tool for personal growth and self-awareness.In future episodes, I'll be delving into how lumii has helped me make tough decisions, explore areas in my life by defining actionable experiments, and what it has taught me about each category, while I continue to explore most of them.In this episode, I also address a podcast listener's questions about visualizing my future and how lumii might reshape those outcomes. This discussion is enriched with wisdom from the Persian poet Shams Tabrizi and a quote from Albert Einstein, as referenced by German psychologist Prof. Gerd Gigerenzer, about the interplay between the intuitive and rational mind. So, tune into this enlightening journey, and be sure to sign up for the lumii community at lumii.io to craft your own DIY PDFs, and sign-up for early-access to the lumii app!Links & Resources:* Free lumii DIY PDFs on lumii.io* Shams of Tabriz’s 40 Rules of Love* Zen Story about choosing your path: This is a public episode.
