In this episode we get a chance to visit with author/biographer, Christopher McKittrick, regarding his latest book about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, "Somewhere You Feel Free: Tom Petty and Los Angeles." We open discussing Chris's first times writing/storytelling and jump straight into his work on Tom Petty. It is obvious just how much Chris enjoys writing but he loves the research part too. We talk about how he approaches each subject and what he might be doing next. We wrap up the interview segment with a discussion over some interesting things we may learn about Tom Petty the person versus the performer. Then Chris puts in a plug for supporting your small business bookstores when buying the book. WATCHTING/STREAMING: Walt finally gave in and started to watch season one of The Boys on Amazon Prime and had to admit he was instantly hooked. He also decided to watch a bad Bond movie The World is Not Enough, and is continuing to binge Star Trek: Enterprise. Chris said it's a tradition to watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles every Thanksgiving. He also gave big props to The Mandalorian on Disney+. No shock, but both Alan and Walt seconded his praise for the series. Alan went so far as to say the episode they just watched was one of the most cinematically crafted episode to-date. The western dual outside the gates is juxtaposed with the oriental, eastern dual inside. Alan also said it was a treat to see Michael Biehn playing a role. READING: It's no surprise, but Walt is halfway through reading, "Somewhere You Feel Free: Tom Petty and Los Angeles." Chris is so busy promoting his book, he admits he hasn't had much time for pleasure reading. LISTENING: Walt had three podcasts to recommend this week. The first was The Dirty Harry Minute, where he has been a recent guest. The second was a reminder to checkout SuperEgo. And the third was for The Dennis Miller Option. Chris gave two big thumbs up for the new AC/DC album, Power Up! Naturally, he has also been listening to Tom Petty's, "Wildflowers and all the Rest" deluxe release. With time rapidly running out for the guest, Alan skipped the regular shout-outs in favor of talking about the Sirius XM channel, Classic Rewind. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, they were looping the top 500 songs from the "cassette" era and Alan loved every moment of it. As a grown-up Gen-Xer, it's the music he remember vividly playing in his car as a teenager and beyond.
