Liz Westinghouse: Chronic burnout & the MTHFR gene
Women & ADHD - Podcast autorstwa Katy Weber

Episode 41 with Liz Westinghouse. "I equate my brain with being a train station. Some people have 1 or 2 tracks, where I have 30 different trains coming and going." Liz and I have been friends for nearly 10 years, and after I (accidentally) came out about my diagnosis on Facebook, I quickly discovered she, too, had ADHD. According to Liz, she fits the ADHD personality type to a T. After growing increasingly frustrated (and bored) in the health care field for 14 years, she saw a proverbial squirrel and jumped fields into mortgage lending where she finally feels settled and happy career wise … we hope. She’s long felt that she fits the ADHD mold and is delighted to have found her people within such a supportive community in which to learn, vent and grow. She lives with her husband and two children in the Hudson Valley region of New York. We talk all about ADHD and switching career paths, the myth of “adult onset ADHD,” as well as chronic burnout and the exhaustion of keeping up appearances. I’ve known Liz for nearly a decade, so we also discuss what it’s like to have ADHD in long-term friendships where you float in and out of each other’s lives. Finally, Liz talks about the connection between ADHD and the MTHFR gene abnormality and how she discovered a histamine intolerance after a bad experience with MSG. TRIGGER WARNING: We discuss elimination diets and also talk about my experiences with intermittent fasting, so if you have a history with an eating disorder or disordered eating, please proceed with caution or you might want ant to skip this interview.
